The Sound of Wings is the third and final part of Tõnu Kõrvits’s conceptual trilogy, which also includes the previously composed Moorland Elegies and You Are the Light and the Morning. All of these works are written for soloists, choir, and strings, and their premieres were performed by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, and Risto Joost. Doris Kareva has contributed to the translation and creation of the texts for all three compositions.

The brightest work in the trilogy is The Sound of Wings, which is in Estonian and radiates the most light. It is a grand musical work about flight, dreams, courage, and unconditional love.
