Crystallisatio is composer Erkki-Sven Tüür's first dedicated album released under the prestigious ECM label. The works from the first half of the 1990s are performed by the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the direction of conductor Tõnu Kaljuste. The album's title piece, Crystallisatio, was composed a year before the release of the recording. The final part on the album is one of Tüür's most significant works: Requiem, written in memory of conductor Peeter Lilje. The Requiem was included among the recommended works at the International Rostrum of Composers in Paris in 1995.
For Tüür as a composer, this 1996 album can be considered a breakthrough, as it sparked growing interest in his music among musicians and organizers alike. ECM’s founder, Manfred Eicher, was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Classical Music Producer for this recording.
